Pros & Cons

Where each platform shines

Where Fstop wins

Purpose-built CRM

Fstop was designed as a CRM from the ground up. Lead management, visual pipeline, contract builder, invoicing, and branded email — every feature is built for managing client relationships. Zenfolio's CRM features feel bolted on to a website platform.

Modern, clean interface

Fstop was built in 2025. Zenfolio has been around since 2005, and while they've updated over the years, the interface still carries legacy design decisions that can feel clunky compared to modern software.

Gmail integration

Send emails from your actual Gmail address. Client conversations stay in your inbox. Zenfolio doesn't offer real email integration — communication is limited to platform notifications.

Simpler pricing for CRM features

$21.99/mo gets you every CRM feature. Zenfolio's business tools (contracts, invoicing) require the Advanced plan at $30/mo or Enterprise at $50/mo — and those plans are primarily priced for website and gallery features.

Where Zenfolio wins

Website builder included

Zenfolio provides a full photography website with customizable templates, portfolio pages, and a blog. If you don't have a website yet, Zenfolio gets you online without needing a separate platform.

Gallery hosting and delivery

Client galleries with proofing, favorites selection, and download management. Gallery delivery has been Zenfolio's core product for nearly two decades.

Print sales and e-commerce

Built-in print store with multiple lab partnerships and self-fulfillment options. Set your markups, clients order from galleries, and prints ship directly to them.

All-in-one with SEO

Website, galleries, e-commerce, and basic business tools in one platform. Built-in SEO tools help your photography website rank in search results.

Choose Zenfolio if you...

A note about all-in-one platforms

Zenfolio's value proposition is consolidation: website, galleries, print sales, and business tools under one roof. For photographers who are just starting out and need everything in one place, there's genuine appeal in that approach. One login, one bill, less to manage.

But consolidation has trade-offs. Zenfolio's website builder competes with Squarespace and Wix. Its galleries compete with Pic-Time and Pixieset. Its CRM features compete with dedicated CRM tools. In each category, the specialized tool tends to be better. Zenfolio does many things adequately, but it's hard to be best-in-class at all of them.

The interface is the most common complaint we hear from former Zenfolio users. After nearly two decades, the platform carries design and UX decisions that feel outdated. If you've used modern software and expect a polished, fast experience, Zenfolio may feel frustrating. That said, if you're already on Zenfolio and everything works, switching carries a real cost — especially for your website and SEO rankings.
