Honest Take

Where each one wins

We're not going to pretend fstop beats HoneyBook at everything. Here's the real story.

Where fstop wins

Price — and it's not close

$21.99/mo for everything vs $39-99/mo for HoneyBook. No tiers, no upsells, no features locked behind higher plans.

Emails from your actual Gmail

Fstop sends through your Gmail. Clients reply to you, not to a CRM address. HoneyBook sends from their own system.

Event timelines

Built-in wedding and event timeline builder. HoneyBook doesn't have this — you'd need a separate tool.

Built for photographers, not everyone

Fstop is designed for photographers and videographers. HoneyBook serves florists, planners, DJs, consultants — everyone. The tradeoff is a more focused, less bloated tool.

Webhook intake — no Zapier needed

Connect any website form to fstop directly. HoneyBook requires Zapier ($20+/mo) for the same thing.

Where HoneyBook wins

Established platform

HoneyBook has been around since 2013. They have a massive user base, extensive support docs, and a mature product. Fstop is newer and still growing.

Online payments — right now

HoneyBook has built-in payment processing today. Fstop's Stripe integration is coming soon but isn't live yet.

Client portal

Clients can log into HoneyBook to view proposals, sign contracts, and make payments in one place. Fstop doesn't have a client portal yet.

Mobile app

HoneyBook has a full mobile app. Fstop's mobile app is planned but not available yet.

Pricing

What you'll actually pay

No hidden fees on either side. Here's the real cost breakdown.

Fstop

$21.99

per month — only plan

Every feature included. No tiers, no add-ons. Price will never exceed $24.99/mo even if it changes.

HoneyBook

$39–99

per month depending on plan

  • Starter: $39/mo — limited features
  • Essentials: $79/mo — most features
  • Premium: $99/mo — everything

Annual billing available at a discount. Starter plan has limits on automation, scheduling, and reports.

A note from the founder

I built fstop because I'm a photographer and I got tired of paying $79/mo for features I didn't need while missing the ones I did. HoneyBook is a good product — they've earned their reputation. But they're built for every creative professional, not specifically for photographers.

Fstop is younger, leaner, and laser-focused on what photographers and videographers actually need. Some features aren't here yet (online payments, mobile app, automated workflows). They're coming. But if you're looking for an affordable, photographer-specific CRM that nails the fundamentals — inquiries, contracts, emails, timelines, branding — fstop might be exactly what you need.
